MUSIC + MOVEMENT

A natural connection.

"

Movement is important for humans to maintain mobility and good quality of life. Music and movement are connected. The strong relationship is due to rhythmic patterns in both. Humans tend to respond to music through movement since their early childhood. Researchers addressed different scenarios of music and body movement correspondence, and confirmed that the combination of music and movement enhances balance, coordination and rhythm.

Both music and movement are valuable tools in therapy.

When using therapies that are based on rhythmic motion and music, we engage patients in motor functions as well as cognitive functions activities.

People with Parkinson’s disease for example suffer from tremor, rigidity and slowness of movement that can lead to difficulties with simple daily activities. Performing a movement exercise through guided music feedback increases patients’ focus and attention to coordinate motion and remember it through music-enhanced muscle memory.
